Chad Phillips on VoIP integration with Drupal with FreeSWITCH and Asterisk

Chad Phillips (aka hunmonk) talks about a couple of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP / Voices over IP) solutions that integrating with Drupal. He took over the Asterisk integration module, and has done a lot of work with it over the years through his Apartment Lines business that provides Interactive Voice Response (IVR) menus for when tenants need to call their landlords. And since this recording at DrupalCon San Francisco, Phillips has taken a few initial steps towards creating a FreeSWITCH integration Drupal module, which is a newer open source VoIP telephony platform. Phillips also talks about the challenges of potentially developing a VoIP API module since Asterisk and FreeSWITCH are different in a lot of ways.
